RACES 2024
Two races a year are organised by the Club, the Round the Island Race and the Cecil Howard Race. Both races are open to all River Cruiser Class yachts. If you have any queries, please contact our Vice Commodore.
Round the Island River Cruiser Race
The Round the Island Race takes place each August and starts from Somerleyton. All River Cruiser Class yachts are welcome to enter and the event counts towards the RCC Sabrina Trophy.

Starting at Somerleyton
Entries: Hand in start times (1st Start 9:30am) to Officer of the Day by 8:45am on the bank. £10 fee
Briefing: 8:45am at the GWYC Bench on the bank

There will likely be no official post race supper however some will be eating afterwards at The Dukes Head with the potential to organise tables.

Cecil Howard River Cruiser Race
The Cecil Howard Race takes place each September, usually on the Sunday preceding the Yare Navigation Race. Racing starts at Cantley – The Reedcutter Inn and finishes at Coldham Hall.

Entries: 8:00 – 8:30am 8th September outside Reedcutter Inn. £10 fee
Briefing: 9:00am with assigned start times
There will be no official pre race supper at the Reedcutter although folks will be gathering the night before for socialising and dinner off the menu. Please contact Lynn to book.
This is an open event and yachts on provisional handicaps are not eligible for trophies.
